9) ESEE 4 OD Randall’s Adventure Survival Knife

Although the ESEE 4 OD survival knife does not look as appealing as other survival knives mentioned in this article, it shouldn’t be discounted based on it’s appearance, because it boasts a killer combination of unique features.

The ESEE 4 OD survival knife is constructed with carbon steel, is light weight and boasts a full flat grind with a thickness which is unparalleled in the field of survival knives. In fact, the ESEE 4 OD is referred to as a ‘wilderness’ model illustrating that it is a great durable survival knife for preppers and survivalists.

Its overall length is 9 inches long, making it shorter than other survival knives, such as the Fallkniven A1, meaning it is easier to carry around.  Furthermore, it comes with a spring steel clip, cord lock and lanyard meaning it can be carried vertically and horizontally.

The sheath of the ESEE 4 OD is made out of Kydex which can be a negative depending on the type of material you want your sheath to made out of. Furthermore, the handle slabs are made out of lined Micarta and can be removed if you want to fit the blade to a modular system for tactical duty carry.

The Laser Strike is definitely one of our favourites because of its practical length and the fact that it does not disappoint with blade strength.

One thing which should be taken into serious consideration with ESEE is their ironclad lifetime warranty which includes replacing the knife if it breaks. This is a great incentive because if you’re worried about spending money outside of your survival budget and the product breaks, you are covered.

However, I’m not sure why the Laser Strike survival knife would break though due to how strong the knife is. This is probably why ESEE can proudly back their products with a lifetime warranty; they trust and believe in the excellent quality of their products.

Wow! Very interesting site and quite educational. You talk about things that I truly never thought about but everyone should. A good knife is probably one of the most essential items on a survival kit. I do have a few questions. Do these knives stay sharp? How would you sharp these knives in the wilderness? I am looking forward to your next posts. I can tell I have much to learn from you. Thanks

This is great information on survival knives. I, personally, have never considered purchasing a survival knife, but you make these all so appealing. Aside from survival, they look like they would be great for camping, and I could really use a quality knife for my family camping trips up in the mountains. Thanks for all the great advice!

I’ve always liked to have a great knife for when I go camping in the woods. I find there are many different things you can take and consider but a proper survival knife is first and for most.

Your extensive list is great, and I’m familiar with most, but I would have to say I would stick with my favorites designed by Ka Bar. Your number one works perfect for me and causes no problems to take camping.

I didn’t realize that a kitchen knife won’t cut it in a doomsday survival scenario. I honestly have a plan in the event of a zombie apocalypse to head over to the the next town where one of my buddies is literally armed to the teeth with many weapons and take my chances with him. The only form of protection I have are my kitchen knives! By reading your article, I’ve realized that they won’t last long out in the wild! Thanks for enlightening me on this!

Great comparison of the different survival knives available.

I feel like a kid in a candy store looking at these knives.

If I had to choose my favorite survival knife of these ten based on appearance and styling I would have to go with the Ka Bar BK2. I love the look and don’t mind that it has a nylon sheath.

I can tell you definitely know your stuff when it comes to survival knives. And if it weren’t for this article, I would not know any better and end up using a flimsy kitchen knife, lol.
I really do like the look of the Buck 119BR Special Survival Knife. It looks so badass, right? Can I ask how much I would be paying for this?
Thanks!
